I follow health care trends, but due to my focus area not being within nursing I have only scratched the surface. That being said in order to curtail some of the issues that currently exist in recruitment and retention within nursing there has to be some creative solutions. This will kind of change doesn't happen over night, but includes recruiting war time vets, flex schedules, and one thing that I haven't really seen an article on, identifying strong candidates at early ages who test well in key studies and educating them on potential careers.
The one thing about working in health care is that the population is ever increasing and people will always get sick. All the while we expect, as we should, for patient care to increase. That means having people who love what they do and do it well. There is no one way to get there, but we have to not depend on traditional methods only.
