In an economy that's continually losing jobs, anyone in the recruiting industry should take interest in the top 10 job areas that are hiring.

While many popular industries, such as construction and manufacturing, are having trouble keeping workers, other industries, such as healthcare and education, are hiring. However, this may mean some job seekers will have to change fields in order to find a job, according to an article by Interbiznet.

"People are frustrated because it's taking them a while to assess the job market," Elaine Varelas, managing partner at Keystone Partners, said in the article. "They'll have to figure out other things they can - and want - to do."

The top 10 job areas that are expected to hire workers during 2009 include:
  • nursing and medical services
  • computing and engineering
  • education
  • green jobs
  • energy
  • infrastructure
  • new finance
  • self-employment and small business
  • retirement
  • telecommuting
  • It's comforting to know that some industries are hiring, as unemployment numbers continue to increase every month. The nation lost 651,000 non-farm payroll jobs during February. According to the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, the country has seen its employment numbers fall by 2.6 million during the last four months.
During February, the country saw its unemployment rate increase from 7.6 to 8.1 percent. The number of unemployed persons increased by 851,000 to 12.5 million. During the last year, the number of unemployed persons has increased by about 5 million and the unemployment rate has increased by 3.3 percent.
