It has been great to see recruiters using #splits to partner with other recruiters and make placements. Twitter is a bit difficult at first to understand, but it's actually a very efficient, easy communication system once you get the hang of it. We will work to make Splits.org as easy to use and intuitive as possible.

I thought recruiters might be interested to know about some trends so far in the areas that recruiters are doing splits. It's very much like what you would expect... So far, recruiters are interested in doing splits in these industries:

41% Technology
24% Healthcare
21% Financial

So it seems like recruiters are overwhelmingly interested in doing splits within technology. Technology recruiting is certainly still hot, even in this recession, and so this trend is not surprising. We all know that healthcare recruiting is also extremely difficult. There are not enough nurses, doctors, and pharmacists to go around, and this trend is going to be aggravated in the next ten years.

By the way, 31% of the requests on splits.org by recruiters indicate that they have a job order that they would like to split (versus having a candidate that they want to represent.) That means that there are a lot of job orders out there, and a lot of money on the table. I thought this was very encouraging in these difficult times. We hope that this system provides a nice, free way to supplement your job orders and business during this downturn. However, the real important thing is building relationships and business partnerships - that's what splits.org is all about and that's what will make you successful in the long term.

Drop me a note if you have any questions or comments about splits.org or using the hashtag #splits along with Twitter.

I would still think that 50/50 is the only way to go to make it worthwhile for both people. But some do 60% or 70% for the one with the order. It's really whatever works best. Usually the types of jobs that recruiters want to split are pretty specialized and hard to find. So the job of the "recruiting" recruiter shouldn't be diminished.

What are standard splits between recruiters? I've heard the recruiter that brings in the order should get at least 70% of fee and the remaining 40% should go to the recruiter working on the job. What are you finding are typical splits to consider given the tight recruitment market?
