With so many companies out there that conduct background checks
(Click here), providers are constantly trying to update their services in order to attract more clients. Being the most effective and efficient option on the market is very important with competition so high. Knowing this Kroll’s Background Screening division has enhanced one of its features, hoping to continue to provide its clients with the best possible service.
According to a recent press release, Kroll has upgraded its eSignature technology in order to make the background screening process more efficient. This technology makes conducting background tests faster for employers, which in turn improves turnaround time and reduces the costs associated with employee selection.
During the background check process, applicants have to sign forms giving their consent to having their pasts evaluated or the check is not legal, according to the
FCRA. Employers must pass these documents on to the company conducting the check before it may be started, in most cases. Through the use of eSignatures employers are able to avoid wasting the amount of time it takes to mail in such forms. This means that hiring mangers can find out whether or not an applicant is suited for the workplace or not more quickly, which also reduces the amount of time it takes to fill a position.
Although other
background check providers have avoided this by including a button on computer forms that says “click to comply”, many sources do not honor this as a form of legal consent. Since anyone could click the button for the applicant, without their knowledge, this is understandable.
In order to be able to check with these sources, Kroll’s eSignature solution allows applicants to create their signature by using a computer mouse. This is very similar to signing your name at a retailer’s Debit/Credit machine. By doing to this, Kroll’s version is in full compliance with the
E-SIGN Act of 2000.
Other benefits of Kroll’s eSignature include; reducing the amount of paper used for traditional background check authorization through the use of electronically stored documents that can be printed as needed, the elimination of filing hard copy documents and ease of record-keeping.
“In this challenging economic environment, organizations are struggling to reduce costs and work more efficiently with fewer resources,” said Kroll’s Senior Vice President of its Background Screening Division Jenifer DeLoach in a recent release. ““Adding Kroll’s Applicant Submission with eSignature technology to the background screening process can have a direct, positive impact on an HR department’s efficiency and produce cost savings that go right to an organization’s bottom line.”
Kroll believes that through the use of their Applicant Submission tool employers can save 7.4 percent of the costs associated with running background checks. For example: and employer that conducts 100 screenings per month would save $5,400 a year with Kroll.
