There are several ways to approach your search depending on the amount of time you have to invest. There are very few pure physician sites that produce a good ROI. I have found that the best candidates are not sitting in the resume databases, but tend to be 1 to 2 degrees of separation from that CV that is posted. If you have time to perform a phone screen and ask for referrals you may find that to be successful.

Here are a few additional suggestions that you may want to consider given that you are not able to use headhunters at this time.

The New England Journal of Medicine is a major publication and particularly applicable for your region of the country. I have had success posting positions both electronically and in print with NEJM. They also have other ways of reaching your target audience through email blasts and newsletters, though they control the distribution. Here is their website: http://www.nejmjobs.org/

Another place would be the American Medical Association. http://www.ama-assn.org/ Similar types of services as NEJM. Because this is more national, relocation is sometimes a challenge.

One of the best and quickest ways to recruit would be to get the word out with your current colleagues in similar positions. Referrals are a great source of leads and tend to be strong hires. Not sure if your company has a referral program, but that would be a great tool.
